Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit organization created by and for people with disabilities. We are an advocacy, information and educational center that promotes independent living and empowerment for people with all types of disabilities.


Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living provides residents of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties access to use community resources and services to enhance their independence.


Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living pledges to provide the highest level of instruction to consumers with disabilities in life skills, job readiness training, peer mentoring, and peer supports. We sincerely believe that if one can dream it, one can do it alone or with our assistance.

Deputy Executive Director supports the Executive Director and manages programs and staff on a day to day basis. As Transition Manager, provide outreach, education, advocacy, and peer support. Peer support will be available for nursing facility residents and their caregivers as well as students and their families.

The Independent Living/Assistive Technology Specialist (IL/AT) supports the needs of individuals living with disabilities through our Five Core Services.  The IL/AT Specialist also manages our Assistive Technology grants and the Southern Maryland Regional Assistive Technology Loan Library.

Veterans Support

The Peer Coordinator assists individuals with the transition from nursing facilities to the community.  As Veterans Support Coordinator, assist in the operation of the Disabled Veterans Support Network meetings.

The Office Fiscal Support staff member provides leadership in the financial, administrative, and records management functions of the agency by implementing and ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and the guidelines of the general accounting procedures.


Part-Time Social Supports Specialist

The Social Supports Specialist will collaborate with Partner Agencies, collect resources and information. He/she will disseminate the information at various locations in the tri-county area. The Specialist will connect consumer to resources and programs that will advance their knowledge, health and wellbeing.

Requirements: Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma (or equivalent). Must be able to travel independently and have a current Driver's License. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must be proficient in data entry.

Hourly rate based on experience and education. The position is part-time and temporary, based on a two-year grant with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Part-Time Case Manager - for Supports Planning Agency

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the field of Human Services and some experience in case management or person-centered planning. Must be willing to travel in the Southern Maryland region including Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties and provide resources for those with disabilities. Competitive salary based on experience.
